Join hosts Amanda “Panda” Parkhurst and Dustin LeVasseur as they lead families on an international musical adventure. Little Roots Around The World will make stops in South Asia, Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, exploring different cultures through music, dance and drumming.
Featured performers include Amos Libby an educator and accomplished oud player, who will share stories, songs and drumming from South Asia and the Middle East; Geraud Ngolo (with Jake Hoffman) doing Congolese Rumba and Pop with French and Italian influences; and Ylli Brekofca, a singer and accordion player performing Albanian folk music.
Amanda “Panda” Parkhurst is a children’s entertainer and the Director of the Little Roots Program at 317 Main Community Music Center based in Yarmouth. Dustin LeVasseur is a music educator and percussionist, who runs pop-up singalongs around southern Maine when he’s not in the classroom or on stage.
The Little Roots Around The World concert comes with an exciting opportunity to raise scholarship funds for the Little Roots Program. Proceeds from the concert will be matched, thanks to a generous grant from the Leonard C. and Mildred F. Ferguson Foundation.
317 Main Community Music Center’s mission is to encourage creative expression, personal growth, and community connection through music. The Yarmouth based non-profit employs more than 30 teaching artists who work with students of all ages, abilities and economic backgrounds.
