The Heather Pierson Trio (Heather Pierson, piano and vocals; Shawn Nadeau, bass; Craig Bryan, drums) returns to OLS with their take on Vince Guaraldi’s A Charlie Brown Christmas.
A Charlie Brown Christmas was originally telecast in December 1965 and was an instant hit with audiences who connected with Peanuts creator Charles M. Schultz’s cast of characters – especially with its rounded-headed hero Charlie Brown, his woefully scrawny Christmas tree, and his typewriter-wielding dog Snoopy. Nearly given the ax by CBS studios at the time of its release, this beloved holiday classic resonates with both children and adults of every generation. Over fifty years on, it still holds up as one of the most endearing Christmas tales ever told, and the story of commercialism run rampant echoes clearly to this day.
The musical score for A Charlie Brown Christmas, composed by the late Vince Guaraldi, is just as poignant and touching as the story and includes the hugely popular hit “Linus and Lucy”. His gentle jazz riffs established musical trademarks that, to this day, still prompt smiles of recognition.
The Heather Pierson Jazz Trio will perform the entirety of the Charlie Brown Christmas album as recorded by the Vince Guaraldi Trio, as well as other Guaraldi compositions.
Based in the Mount Washington Valley of New Hampshire, Heather Pierson is a nationally touring multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and performer. Best known for her ease at the piano and her bell-tone vocals, her songs and musicianship embody joy, honesty, playfulness, and a desire to share from the heart. In over twenty years on her own record label, Vessel Recordings, she has released fourteen albums and several singles of original music, and a new collection of piano sheet music, ’The Open Road.’
IMPORTANT COVID-19 PROTOCOL UPDATES
OLS is committed to providing a safe environment for all who work, listen, or perform live music in our venue. Because our venue is so small, effective on August 3, 2022, we will require all staff, volunteers, and patrons to wear masks indoors unless they are actively drinking, eating, or performing. Certain shows, at the request of those artists, will also require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for entry to OLS.
We will require mask usage as our default policy unless stated otherwise; please refer to the language on each concert's event page to check the policy for the show you are attending.
If the show you are attending requires proof of vaccination:
Proof of vaccine must come directly from the health care provider that performed the vaccination and can be a photo or physical copy of the vaccination card or record. Full vaccination means that the date of the performance you are attending is:
- at least 14 days after your second dose of an FDA or WHO authorized two dose COVID-19 vaccine, or
- at least 14 days after your single dose of an FDA or WHO authorized single dose COVID vaccine.
We hope we can ease these restrictions once further progress has been made in reducing the transmission of the virus. Until then, we greatly appreciate your patience and cooperation.
