09/30/22 Emilia Dahlin & Sorcha Cribben-Merrill
Friday, September 30, 2022
$ 12.00

What began as two seasoned songwriters showing up for weekly creative check-ins evolved into a fresh musical collaboration. Emilia Dahlin and Sorcha Cribben-Merrill join their jazz vocal harmonies with the poetry of folk music, while honoring vintage rhythms and their stylistic origins. Their songs unveil mesmerizing tales, charming vignettes, and raw bluesy grooves as they swap guitars, accordion, drums, and vocal improvisations.

Joining forces on stage, they embody what is possible when two musicians support each other through challenges of “going it alone” in the work of launching new projects, sustaining creative partnerships, and aligning their values with their work. Fueled by their Wednesday morning “creative accountability sessions,” removing barriers to their creative process made space for this special duo.

Emilia has toured through the U.S., Canada, Brazil and Europe. Known for memorable performances, Emilia garnered national awards from Telluride Troubadour, Winner of the Starbucks Music Makers Competition, Winner of Boston Music Conference Songwriting Competition, and the Great Waters Songwriting Contest.

Sorcha has opened for Grammy-nominated mandolinist Matt Flinner, folk music icon Tom Rush, and celebrated cellist/multi-instrumentalist Leyla McCalla (formerly of the Carolina Chocolate Drops). She has won over audiences at the Falcon Ridge Folk Festival (Emerging Artist), Stone Mountain Arts Center in Brownfield, ME, and The State Theatre in Portland, ME.

Sorcha & Emilia embark on a regional tour of New England this fall, pairing each performance with a Songwriting Workshop to offer space for the general public to engage in the creative process with them.

Sorcha & Emilia: Songwriting Workshop
We believe that engaging in songwriting in community supports personal expression, creative collaboration, language exploration, and more. We invite the general public (introverts and extroverts alike) to an experiential songwriting workshop that meets you where you are. Bring a notebook to fill with our writing prompts. Bring a song you’ve been working on. Try writing a song for the first time. Bring any hurdles to your creative process. You will leave with tangible tools and renewed encouragement, whether you have been writing your whole life or are just dipping your toes in. FMI: www.emiliadahlin.com and www.sorchastudio.com

OLS is committed to providing a safe environment for all who work, listen, or perform live music in our venue. Because our venue is so small, effective on August 3, 2022, we will require all staff, volunteers, and patrons to wear masks indoors unless they are actively drinking, eating, or performing. Certain shows, at the request of those artists, will also require proof of vaccination against COVID-19 for entry to OLS.

We will require mask usage as our default policy unless stated otherwise; please refer to the language on each concert's event page to check the policy for the show you are attending.

If the show you are attending requires proof of vaccination:

Proof of vaccine must come directly from the health care provider that performed the vaccination and can be a photo or physical copy of the vaccination card or record. Full vaccination means that the date of the performance you are attending is:

  • at least 14 days after your second dose of an FDA or WHO authorized two dose COVID-19 vaccine, or
  • at least 14 days after your single dose of an FDA or WHO authorized single dose COVID vaccine.
