2/18/23 The Wolff Sisters, Billy Keane
Saturday, February 18, 2023
$ 15.00

“On their breezy third album [Queendom of Nothing], Rebecca, Rachael, and Kat Wolff — actual sisters, raised just outside the city — live comfily at the crossroads of Americana, roots, and ’60s rock ‘n’ roll, where The Band might meet Brandi Carlile and take her out for a beer.” — The Boston Globe, 2019

The Wolff Sisters Band’s latest album, Queendom of Nothing, picks up right where they left off with their sophomore album, Cahoon Hollow, serving up the right amount of grit, moodiness, and wild rock n’ roll to reflect on the summer’s slow burnout and what comes next. Both albums were recorded at Dirt Floor Studio in Chester, CT, and produced by Eric Michael Lichter.

The Wolff Sisters is fronted by three sisters — Rebecca on acoustic guitar, Kat on the keys, Rachael on electric guitar, and all three on lead vocals and harmonies. Raised on Bob Dylan, The Band, and Little Feat, the sisters crafted their sound around a honky tonk piano in the living room of their childhood home. With a talented cast of rotating drummers and bass players, The Wolff Sisters are a rag tag group of hardworking individuals that bring a big sound and timeless songs. Their music is honest and genre defying, but still rooted in traditional rock and americana storytelling.

Boston Music Award winner for Americana Artist of the Year 2020 and Folk Artist of the Year nominee both 2018 and 2019, the band’s electrifying live performance and unique sound continues to gain momentum and recognition from their hometown of Boston and beyond. Queendom of Nothing landed a spot on The Boston Globe’s top 15 albums for Fall following its release in October 2019, while their previous album Cahoon Hollow was nominated for New England Music Award’s Album of The Year 2018. The Wolff Sisters continue to work tirelessly at honing their sound and touring the U.S while paying homage to their roots in New England.

BILLY KEANE IS A WANDERER, A TAKER OF THE SCENIC ROUTE.  TO LIVE LIGHTLY, TO BE HUMAN, TO BE A TRUTH SEEKER, TO LIVE A LIFE OF EMPATHETIC EXPRESSION AND CREATIVITY – THESE ARE THE FOUNDATIONS OF BILLY’S LIFE PHILOSOPHY AND CAN BE FOUND THEMATICALLY THROUGHOUT MUCH OF HIS WRITING.

FROM COLLEGE DROP OUT TO WORLD TRAVELER TO COMMERCIAL DEEP SEA DIVER, TO TOURING MUSICIAN TO SOCIALLY MINDED ENTREPRENEUR, BILLY’S PATH IS A WINDING ONE, AND ONE WHICH HE HAS SEEN AND EXPERIENCED THROUGH THE EYES OF A SINGER SONGWRITER OF A UNIQUE KIND.  IN EARLY 2020, BILLY REFOUND HIS SOBRIETY FROM ALCOHOL, ENDING A LONG LASTING AND DESTRUCTIVE BATTLE WITH HIMSELF, AND BEGINNING A NEW LIFE OF CLARITY, GRATITUDE, AND A DEEP AND ABIDING APPRECIATION FOR AND LOVE OF SIMPLE LIVING.

BILLY’S SOUND – A BLENDING OF NEO FOLK/AMERICANA WITH INDIE ROCK AND COUNTRY – IS INSPIRED BY HIS LIFE, HIS LISTENING, HIS BELIEF THAT TO BE HUMAN MEANS TO EXPERIENCE THE UNIVERSE AND OUR WORLD ITS PEOPLE AND TO REFLECT ALL THAT BACK UPON ITSELF THROUGH ARTISTIC EXPRESSION.  HE CAN BE FOUND PERFORMING HIS RESOUNDING ANTHEMIC SONGS EITHER AS A A SOLO ACT WITH AN ACOUSTIC GUITAR, OR AS A FULL BAND SETUP REFLECTIVE OF HIS MOST RECENT ALBUM, TOO MUCH TO LET IT GO (RELEASE EARLY 2022)

BILLY’S MUSICAL LEGACY HAS TAKEN HIM TO FESTIVALS ALL OVER THE COUNTRY, AND HE HAS HAD THE HONOR OF SHARING THE STAGE WITH HOUSEHOLD NAMES LIKE: JAMES TAYLOR, YO YO MA, THE GIN BLOSSOMS, BLUES TRAVELER AND MANY OTHERS, AT VENUES AS WIDE RANGING AS MASSMOCA, THE GREENRIVER FEST IN MASS, THE KATE WOLF FEST IN CALIFORNIA, AND VARIOUS OTHER FESTIVALS AND CONCERT HALLS TO LEGENDARY FOLK CLUBS SUCH AS CAMBRIDGE’S CLUB PASSIM, SARATOGA SPRINGS’ CAFFE LENA, NYC’S ROCKWOOD MUSIC HALL, LA’S HOTEL CAFE, AND SAN FRANCISO’S HOTEL UTAH.

IN THE PAST FEW YEARS BILLY HAS BECOME MORE INVOLVED IN ON CAMERA WORK, BEING FEATURED ON CAMERA IN VARIOUS COMMERCIALS AND MUSIC VIDEOS (SIERRA FERRELL’S “IN DREAMS”, JOHNNY IRION’S “TONIGHT”) AND LOOKS FORWARD TO CONTINUING TO EXPLORE OPPORTUNITIES IN THE FILM/TV AND PHOTOGRAPHY WORLDS.

IN 2014 BILLY CO-FOUNDED THE EVER POPULAR COLLABORATIVE SONGWRITER PROJECT CALLED THE WHISKEY TREATY ROADSHOW (2020 RELEASE BAND TOGETHER FEATURING STEVE GORMAN OF THE BLACK CROWES AND PAT SANSONE OF WILCO).  THE WHISKEY TREATY HAS TOURED NATIONALLY AND RECEIVED WIDE ACCLAIM BOTH FOR THEIR LIVE RECORDS AND STUDIO ALBUM.
