Initially recognized for his skill as a string band musician\, Blount has synthesized his scholarly and artistic pursuits into a diverse performance practice that has taken him to Carnegie Hall\, Newport Folk Festival\, NPR’s Tiny Desk\, and beyond. His albums\, released on Free Dirt Records and Smithsonian Folkways Recordings\, have been featured in best-of lists from NPR\, The New Yorker\, and Rolling Stone. His scholarly publications include “Jail the Zombie: Black Banjoists\, Biopolitics\, and Archives\,” published in Modern American History. He also served as a music consultant for the movie Sinners\, and performed on the soundtrack of Ken Burns’s The American Revolution. Blount holds an A.M. in Musicology and Ethnomusicology from Brown University\, where he is working toward a Ph.D. in the same and a second master’s degree in Anthropology. Musically proficient like Joni Mitchell and Pinegrove\, Barton writes music that is emotionally cutting like Sufjan Stevens and Fiona Apple. With reverence for the craft of songwriting\, Barton writes and sings like she speaks: unapologetic\, yet approachable. As a live performer\, Barton is known for quieting a room with just her voice and guitar\, turning crowds into confidants. Having shared stages with Lizzy McAlpine\, Madi Diaz\, Field Medic\, Searows\, and others\, her songs carry what folk music has always carried: emotion\, memory\, simple truth. \n\n\n\nHer 2022 album\, This is a Good Sign\, produced by Collin Pastore and Jake Finch (Lucy Dacus\, Ashe)\, led to a co-write with Lizzy McAlpine on “Older” and an invitation to support McAlpine’s 2023 North American tour. That same year\, Barton co-wrote “if i were a fish” with her partner corook and the song reached millions; the New York Times called it “a forgotten track off the Juno soundtrack.” \n\n\n\nBarton’s latest album\, For Myself and For You\, was co-produced by Sam Skinner of Pinegrove in Brooklyn throughout 2024 released fall of 2025\, and toured in early 2026. Gorka’s powerful baritone and poignant songwriting earned early acclaim\, especially after winning the New Folk Award at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1984. His debut album I Know (Red House Records) was followed by five celebrated albums on High Street Records\, and his music drew praise from Rolling Stone as “the preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement.” He toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe\, with artists such as Nanci Griffith and Mary Chapin Carpenter\, and his songs were covered by many prominent performers. \n\n\n\nIn 1998\, Gorka returned to Red House Records\, embracing a more personal\, roots-driven approach. If you do it right\, a song can be very healing.” \n\n\n\nFor Jennings\, songwriting has always been about creating a personal connection\, both with his audience and with himself. Over the years\, he’s become known for his unpretentious\, emotive approach to folk music\, combining introspective lyrics with acoustic melodies. She began songwriting at age 14\, finding roots in bluegrass\, Americana\, and traditional music. As a solo artist and with her band\, Sigrid performs across her home state and beyond\, rotating between music festivals\, farmers markets\, songwriter showcases\, coffee shops\, and community events.  \n\n\n\nSigrid graduated from the University of Southern Maine in 2021 with a degree in Music Education and a secondary focus in Composition. Heather performs reflective music that melds humor\, nostalgia and vulnerability. Her debut album “Laurel” showcases ten songs that move through genre\, intertwining pining solo ballads\, rock anthems\, and alt-country journeys. Much of her lyrical and musical inspiration comes from growing up with a musical family in the Appalachian mountains of Virginia. Heather’s love of singing and writing germinated out of singing in the church choir and harmonizing with her mother. Heather has performed her songs across the United States and Canada alongside her band of fanciful\, fetching friendos Nick Thompson-Brown on bass\, Alex Ouellette on drums\, and Hunter Lefebvre on lead guitar.
