SUMMARY:98.9 WCLZ presents: Madi Diaz with special guest Dead Gowns
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $25\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $35\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMadi Diaz has built a reputation for writing songs that cut straight to the emotional core. Following the critical success of History of a Feeling and the Grammy-nominated Weird Faith\, her forthcoming album Fatal Optimist continues that journey\, exploring heartbreak\, reinvention\, and the complicated choice to remain open to love despite the risks. \n\n\n\nAfter the end of a relationship she once imagined lasting forever\, Diaz retreated into solitude\, spending time alone and confronting feelings of grief\, embarrassment\, and disappointment. What emerged was a period of profound self-discovery. “The only person I’m never gonna leave is myself\,” she says. That realization became the foundation of Fatal Optimist\, a collection of songs that traces the path from loss toward self-acceptance. \n\n\n\nTo match the intimacy of the material\, Diaz stripped the album back to its essentials\, recording largely with just her voice and acoustic guitar. The result is her most vulnerable and unguarded work to date. As Diaz describes it\, “Fatal Optimism” is the choice to keep believing in something magical\, even when you know there are no guarantees. It’s an album about embracing uncertainty\, putting your whole heart in\, and choosing hope anyway. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDead Gowns\n\n\n\nHow does one cope with the pang of desire? It’s the tender\, sometimes volatile question that confronts Genevieve Beaudoin on her debut full-length as Dead Gowns. \n\n\n\nA deft lyricist with a sweeping range of poetic color and texture\, Beaudoin paints her story in dark romantics\, presenting a woman in the high summer of adulthood deciphering life’s capacity to fulfill desires or let them go painfully unmet. These cravings – to be touched\, to be known\, to have just one more encounter with someone lost to time – are a lacuna Beaudoin prods at insistently throughout the album’s twelve songs. \n\n\n\nThough never named outright\, Beaudoin’s home in Maine – and its ragged\, granite-strewn coastline – is an evocative character inhabiting the album\, a force even more implacable than Beaudoin’s emotions. Also present is the acute awareness of time passing. Pulled from an Eileen Miles poem\, the album’s title\, It’s Summer\, I Love You\, and I’m Surrounded by Snow\, evokes a feeling of disorientation and the inevitability of change. External and internal forces charge Beaudoin\, her inner world shifting much like the dizzying change of the seasons. “We get swept up in the blizzard\, and then we are set down in the hot salty haze of August\,” she says\, remembering the Maine winters of her childhood. \n\n\n\nBy the album’s end\, Beaudoin holds her longing in the balance\, no longer overcome but embodied. And if you listen carefully – these songs will pick you up and put you down again\, transformed\, raw\, and satiated. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:Sam Burchfield
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $25\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $35\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSam Burchfield was raised in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains of South Carolina\, where he learned to play and learned to write. His youth was steeped in the mossy creeks and deep ravines of those ancient woods\, and they imbued him with the gift of song. Now in his thirties\, Burchfield raises a small family in the North Georgia mountains and continues to find inspiration in the rivers and ridges of Southern Appalachia. \n\n\n\nHis latest album ‘Me & My Religion’ was produced with his touring band\, The Scoundrels. It is the first collaboration for the group after years of paying dues to the highway. Colin Agnew (drums)\, Trygve Myers (bass)\, and Ryan Plumley (guitar) accompanied Burchfield to Muscle Shoals\, Alabama along with Nashville producer\, Rachael Moore\, to record the album of 7 days. \n\n\n\nThis 10 track album is almost equal parts Americana\, psychedelia\, indie folk\, and Southern rock. All these flavors combine to support the album’s main theme. As seasoned listeners will expect\, Burchfield’s lyrics are far from on the nose\, as the declarative title would suggest. ‘Me & My Religion’ is an exploration of mankind’s toil for meaning in a world of vapid consumerism and commercialism – one in which we have become deaf to our own harmony with nature. Despite the weight of these ideas\, the album feels like a lighthearted sojourn through the backwoods of our imagination. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:Jackie Greene
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: Total ticket price at checkout is $30\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $40\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAmericana and roots singer-songwriter Jackie Greene is a jack-of-all-trades and an artist who can croon over soulful piano ballads as much as he can shred a bluesy guitar solo\, like he did as the lead guitarist for The Black Crowes in 2013. A road warrior and musician’s musician\, Greene’s new EP The Modern Lives – Vol 2 (out October 2018 on Blue Rose Music) finds him at a new chapter in his life: his first months of fatherhood\, time off his relentless touring circuit\, and a cross-country move from Brooklyn to his birthplace of Northern California. This new collection of six original songs is a thematic extension of The Modern Lives – Vol 1 EP (released in 2017 on Blue Rose Music)\, imbued with a Brooklyn basement DIY feel and ethos. He is a student of American music\, transfixed upon its progression through time\, as well as how regional sounds fit in a contemporary context. Whereas Vol 1 saw Greene experiment with the Delta blues as a canvas for his examinations of modern society\, Vol 2 sees Greene embrace the sounds of the bluegrass and folk tapes of his youth. \n\n\n\nLead single “Crazy Comes Easy” showcases Greene’s dynamic\, multi-instrumental range as he plays slide guitar\, organ\, bass\, and percussion\, the guitar licks an appreciative nod to his time in The Black Crowes. Meanwhile\, “Good Old Bad Times” highlights Greene as the songwriter as he rattles off lines like\, “How can somebody find a future? / If they ain’t got a foothold in the past?” while taking a critical eye to the idea of nostalgia. Piano ballad “Victim Of The Crime” was one of Jackie’s oldest demos until the feel of these sessions gave him the tools to finish a song that\, in his words\, was written for his wife before she was his wife. While the title possesses a kind of melodrama\, the song itself is tender and heartfelt as he details love’s trials and tribulations. \n\n\n\nGreene partnered with Academy Award-nominated “king of indie animation” Bill Plympton for a series of music videos for The Modern Lives – Vol 1 that would eventually become an animated short film titled The Modern Lives. The film is currently making the rounds at film festivals where it has already won the Jury Award at the USA Film Festival in Dallas\, TX\, and the Grand Remi Award / Best in Show at WorldFest in Houston\, TX. The short is also being exhibited at the 71st Festival de Cannes/Court Metrage\, Melbourne International Animation Festival\, and ASIFA-East Festival\, amongst others. \n\n\n\nSince the release of his critically-acclaimed debut album Gone Wanderin’\, Greene has built an enduring audience through a relentless touring schedule with the likes of BB King\, Mark Knopfler\, Susan Tedeschi\, and Taj Mahal. He played lead guitar with The Black Crowes on their Layin’ Down With #13 World Tour\, recorded and toured with Trigger Hippy—his supergroup with Joan Osborne—and in the last four years performed over 300 shows of his own\, all while continuing to record and release his solo work. Greene is a frequent member of Phil Lesh & Friends and sits in with countless other artists\, including Tedeschi Trucks Band\, Govt Mule\, Mississippi All-Stars\, Amy Helm\, Steve Earle\, and Bob Weir. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:Dan Bern
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $25\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $35\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDan Bern is a captivating live performer who has enthralled a loyal and ever-growing fan base in the US and Europe since the mid ‘90s. His songs range from deeply moving to wildly imaginative and hilarious\, often within the same song. \n\n\n\nHe has been compared favorably to the great masters of songwriting\, such as Guthrie\, Dylan\, Costello. Though he draws from the great American tradition of songwriting\, there is something deeply unique and compelling that make you want to get to know the man behind the songs. \n\n\n\nHe conjures incredibly specific imagery like in a painting. Though he may turn to cynicism and political satire at times\, the beauty of his work is that he is able to imagine better worlds\, revealing a deep capacity for empathy and optimism. Bern connects with his audiences skillfully and directly\, weaving the topical and local in with the more universal themes. He has written for many films and TV shows\, and has made more than thirty albums. \n\n\n\n“If you ever read the name “Dan Bern” give yourself a treat and go see him. He’s been one of my favourite songwriters and musicians for the past 25 years. His songs are a mix of thought provoking lyrics and a wonderful dry wit. You’ll have a great night out! —Roger Daltrey \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:David Wilcox
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $30\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $40\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThere are songwriters who chronicle life\, and then there’s David Wilcox—an artist who metabolizes it. He has long been a quiet force in American folk music; a musician’s musician\, a writer’s writer\, and a seeker whose gift lies in making the personal feel universal. \n\n\n\nWith the release of The Way I Tell the Story (2025)\, Wilcox proves\, yet again\, that resilience isn’t just a survival skill—it’s an art form. The record shimmers with musical sophistication but leaves just enough space for the listener to feel what Wilcox has always done best: tell the truth\, gently but without apology. The music he’s creating now comes from a place that can’t be faked. In recent years\, Wilcox’s life has been shaped by his wife’s Parkinson’s diagnosis—a shift that reordered his priorities and redefined his sense of time\, love\, and presence. But rather than retreat\, Wilcox leaned in. “Times get tough\, and music gets good\,” he says\, and means it. These songs don’t dramatize. They don’t resolve neatly. They sit in the complexity of living—open-eyed\, unafraid\, quietly brave. \n\n\n\nWilcox’s career began in earnest in the late 1980s\, when his self-released debut The Nightshift Watchman caught the attention of A&M Records. His major-label debut\, How Did You Find Me Here (1989)\, became an unexpected hit\, selling over 100\,000 copies largely by word of mouth and live shows alone—an unheard-of feat for a debut folk record. Critics took note of his deft guitar work and emotional clarity\, but it was the unassuming wisdom threaded through his lyrics that truly set him apart. Rolling Stone praised his “soulful insight\,” while The New York Times called his music “a kind of open- hearted therapy.” \n\n\n\nWhat followed was a string of acclaimed albums—Big Horizon (1994)\, Turning Point (1997)\, What You Whispered (2000) each one refining his reputation as a songwriter who knows how to say hard things in soft\, lasting ways. Over the years\, he’s shared stages and collaborations with artists like Shawn Colvin\, Patty Larkin\, Pierce Pettis\, and John Gorka—fellow craftspeople committed to song over spectacle. But Wilcox has never followed the current. He’s followed the work\, and in 2018 Wilcox won top honors In the 23rd annual USA Songwriting for his effervescent “We Make the Way by Walking” from his album\, The View From the Edge. \n\n\n\nThat work has earned him quiet but enduring respect. His songs have been covered by k.d. lang and Tony Rice; his guitar work studied by those who understand that precision\, when rooted in care\, becomes its own kind of virtuosity. His influence runs deep\, especially among younger artists trying to build something real in a world obsessed with surface. \n\n\n\nWilcox’s music still resonates\, especially now\, because it doesn’t try to outpace the moment. It meets it. In his world\, craft is a form of care. Introspection is a public offering. And staying soft in a hard world isn’t a liability—it’s a kind of leadership. \n\n\n\nFor audiences seeking something more than noise\, more than nostalgia\, Wilcox’s songs remain a rare kind of company. Not flashy. Not loud. Just deeply\, generously alive. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:Ordinary Elephant with special guest Remi Goode
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $20\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $25\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nMesmerizing folk duo Ordinary Elephant has spent the better part of the last decade on a never-ending tour that’s earned married couple Crystal and Pete Damore widespread critical acclaim and made fans of luminaries like Tom Paxton and Mary Gauthier. In 2017\, the pair took home the International Folk Music Award for Artist of the Year on the strength of their breakout album\, Before I Go\, and two years later\, they returned with the similarly lauded Honest\, which the Associated Press hailed as “one of the best Americana albums of the year.” \n\n\n\nThe band’s new stripped-down\, self-titled collection is the purest distillation of their sound yet\, showcasing the arresting power of the couple’s gorgeous harmonies and intricate fretwork. The songs are timeless\, rooted in rich\, character-driven storytelling\, and the performances are similarly transportive\, fueled by delicately intertwined banjo\, guitar\, and octave mandolin. Though the songs were born out of a period of deep uncertainty\, the record itself is a work of profound self-assurance\, one delivered by a duo whose personal and professional lives embody the limitless possibility of honest\, organic collaboration. Press play on Ordinary Elephant and you’ll hear more than just a husband and wife; you’ll hear the sound of sincerity and commitment\, of patience and gratitude\, of learning to let go of expectation and revel in the simple beauty of the moment. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nRemi Goode:\n\n\n\nRemi Goode is a classical guitarist turned alternative folk singer-songwriter\, based in Nashville. In a continual search for the truth\, her lyrics are filled with paradoxes and multiple perspectives\, as she attempts to embrace the grey areas of life. Receiving comparisons to Suzanne Vega and Kathleen Edwards\, Goode’s debut album\, Things I’ve Said Before\, released September 2025\, is an introduction to the indie-folk artist who straddles the borders between different worlds. A nylon-string guitarist nodding to the classical training and contemporary influences of her past while pushing toward a wider sound\, she creates her own version of modern-day American roots music: one that “has an intimacy to it that feels almost intrusive\,” according to Glide Magazine. Remi tours nationally in a duo with longtime collaborator and partner\, Gabe Lehrer\, featuring intricate interlocking guitar arrangements and close vocal harmonies. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:Katie Pruitt - Fools for the Fleeting Tour
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $30\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $35\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nLess than a decade into her career\, Katie Pruitt has cemented her status as an essential artist who helps us make sense of modern life and uncover meaningful ways of moving through it. Since the arrival of her critically celebrated full-debut Expectations (a 2020 LP that earned her an Emerging Artist of the Year nomination from the Americana Music Association)\, the Georgia-bred singer/songwriter/guitarist has assembled an acclaimed body of work exploring questions both existential and intimate (e.g.\, identity\, self-acceptance\, the quiet courage of living truthfully). On her new album Fools for the Fleeting\, the Nashville-based musician reckons with the impermanence inherent to being human\, shifting between poetic observation and confessional storytelling as she confronts such complex matters as ecological anxiety\, love’s intrinsic fragility\, and the profound isolation normalized by our increasingly digitized existence. \n\n\n\nHer third full-length and follow-up to 2024’s Mantras\, Fools for the Fleeting emerged from Pruitt’s vision of creating an album that feels “rooted to the earth”—a concept closely tied to the LP’s underlying theme of nature as a mirror for our inner lives. A prime showcase for her warm and soulful voice\, the 10-song set centers on a powerful yet intentional form of Americana/indie-rock\, steeped in acoustic instrumentation and the beautifully imperfect friction of live performance\, courtesy of musicians like Juan Solorzano (a guitarist known for his work with Ruston Kelly and Parker Millsap) and Aksel Coe (a drummer who’s played with Ella Langley and Sierra Ferrell). As Pruitt’s most outward-reaching and philosophically rich work to date\, the result is a luminous meditation on transience and grief\, connection as survival\, and the transformative power of presence and surrender. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:Briscoe with special guest Noah James
DESCRIPTION:THIS IS A STANDING ROOM SHOW\, WITH LIMITED BALCONY SEATING. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDoors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $20 (inclusive of $4.50 service fee)\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $25\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIf Briscoe’s debut album was a coming-of-age soundtrack set against the backdrop of the Texas Hill Country\, then its follow-up\, Heat of July\, is the sound of a fully formed duo chasing down a broader horizon. Inspired by marriage\, landscapes\, and the cross-country tours that took the band across America\, these new songs were written on the road— as eclectic and evocative as the terrain that unfolded just outside the van’s windshield. \n\n\n\nOnce again\, Briscoe teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Brad Cook to bring the songs to life\, collaboratively creating a record that expands their folk-rock sound in all directions. There are bigger arrangements\, sharper vocal harmonies\, and enough top-tier guest musicians—including members of Houndmouth\, Hiss Golden Messenger\, Bon Iver\, Mipso\, and Watchhouse—to form their own supergroup. \n\n\n\nThe result is a cinematic\, widescreen version of American roots music\, created by two lifelong friends who’ve learned to distill the thrill of the open road—and the challenges of growing up—into an ever-evolving soundtrack. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nNoah James\n\n\n\nAt just 18 years old\, Baton Rouge-based country singer-songwriter Noah James is emerging as one of the genre’s most compelling new voices. Known for blending raw emotion\, vivid storytelling\, and a sound deeply rooted in his Louisiana upbringing\, Noah has already connected with a rapidly growing audience\, amassing over 50 million TikTok views and over 300\,000 followers. His debut singles “Set Free\,” “Love Run Cold\,” and “Same Old Things” earned praise for their authenticity and heartfelt lyricism\, drawing comparisons to modern country storytellers like Zach Bryan and Wyatt Flores. With his signing to Santa Anna/Sony Music\, Noah is poised to take his music to an even wider audience\, solidifying his place as one of country music’s most sincere and promising young stars. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram

SUMMARY:John Gorka
DESCRIPTION:Doors open an hour before showtime.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nADVANCE PURCHASE: $40\n\n\n\nAT THE DOOR: $45\n\n\n\nAll surcharges and member discounts will be calculated at checkout.\n\n\n\nClick Here to learn how our ticket surcharge supports OLS.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJohn Gorka got his start in the late 1970s at Godfrey Daniels\, a small but legendary coffeehouse in eastern Pennsylvania\, where he was a student and resident soundman. Immersed in a scene that included icons like Stan Rogers and Tom Paxton\, he began writing and performing his own songs. Gorka’s powerful baritone and poignant songwriting earned early acclaim\, especially after winning the New Folk Award at the Kerrville Folk Festival in 1984. His debut album I Know (Red House Records) was followed by five celebrated albums on High Street Records\, and his music drew praise from Rolling Stone as “the preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement.” He toured extensively in the U.S. and Europe\, with artists such as Nanci Griffith and Mary Chapin Carpenter\, and his songs were covered by many prominent performers. \n\n\n\nIn 1998\, Gorka returned to Red House Records\, embracing a more personal\, roots-driven approach. Albums like After Yesterday\, The Company You Keep\, and Writing in the Margins deepened his catalog with stories shaped by family life and decades on the road. Collaborators have included Ani DiFranco\, Patty Larkin\, and Lucy Kaplansky. His 11th studio album\, So Dark You See\, is among his most acclaimed\, and his work continues to resonate through national broadcasts and documentaries\, such as the inclusion of his song “Where No Monument Stands” in Every War Has Two Losers. \n\n\n\nWebsite | Facebook | Instagram
