Jim Lauderdale embodies the sound of American roots music for listeners around the world. A 2025 inductee into the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame, he continues to be one of the genre’s most prolific voices, with his 38th and 39th albums set for release in 2026: Country Super Hits Volume 2 and the bluegrass collection The Birds Know.
His major label debut, Planet of Love (1991), launched an international touring career and established him as a go-to songwriter on Music Row. His work has been recorded by artists including George Strait, Patty Loveless, George Jones, The Chicks, Old Crow Medicine Show, Lucinda Williams, and Charley Crockett, among many others.
Between 2004 and 2013, Lauderdale wrote and recorded six albums with Robert Hunter. His long list of collaborators also includes Buddy Miller, Elvis Costello, Donna the Buffalo, North Mississippi Allstars, The Po’ Ramblin’ Boys, and Ralph Stanley.
In 2016, he received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Americana Music Association, and he is a two-time Grammy winner for Best Bluegrass Album.
