Mr Sun is an acoustic music supergroup featuring four of the most accomplished musicians in contemporary roots music: fiddler Darol Anger, guitarist Grant Gordy, mandolinist Joe K. Walsh, and Scottish bassist Aidan O’Donnell. Blending bluegrass, jazz, folk, and American roots traditions, the quartet has earned a reputation for exhilarating musicianship, inventive arrangements, and an effortless chemistry that only comes from artists at the top of their craft.
Collectively, the members of Mr Sun have performed and recorded with artists including David Grisman, Mike Marshall, the Gibson Brothers, Maeve Gilchrist, and many more, while also building acclaimed solo careers and shaping the next generation of musicians through their work at Berklee College of Music. Since forming, the band has become a standout at festivals including Wintergrass, Grey Fox, FreshGrass, and IBMA, and continues to expand the possibilities of acoustic string music with every performance.
Their latest release, Extrovert (Compass Records), showcases the joyful interplay, virtuosic musicianship, and adventurous spirit that have made Mr Sun one of the most exciting ensembles on today’s acoustic music scene.
