GoldenOak w/ Ellie Buckland of Lula Wiles

From the foothills of Western Maine comes GoldenOak, a folk group whose genre-blending tendencies have them steadily emerging as a musical force in New England. Conceived in the winter of 2013 by Singer-Songwriter Zak Kendall and cellist Seth Wegner, they were quick to join forces with Kendall's sister Lena, whose voice blends with the hum of the cello and guitar to create a sound that resonates deep within. It wasn't long after their first summer performing as GoldenOak that their friend Julian Stearns was welcomed into the group with his trumpet, helping them explore new musical paths with his improvised motifs. Named one of Maine's "rising artists" by the Nova Design Group, they recently released their debut album, "Pleasant St." and have performed throughout the greater New England Area sharing their music. Members include Zak Kendall (guitar, lead vocals), Lena Kendall (percussion, lead vocals), Seth Wegner (cello, vocals), and Julian Stearns (trumpet).

Ellie Buckland is a songwriter, singer, and fiddler, but not always in that order.

Ellie is a 4th generation performing musician and has been singing melodies since before she could talk. So it seems only natural that she would eventually fall in love with writing songs. Growing up in Maine in a musical family, her passion for songwriting and performing grew out of the influence of traditional fiddle music, country & bluegrass. Now residing in Somerville, MA surrounded by the thriving roots/folk/country music community of Boston, she brings light and joy to stages such as Club Passim, Lizard Lounge, & The Sinclair. She's had the honor of performing with Matt Glaser, Bruce Molsky, Rose Cousins, Laura Cortese & Dietrich Strause, to name a few.

She has previously appeared on the One Longfellow stage with her band Lula Wiles, a roots trio based in Boston, MA and in June of 2015, Ellie performed with the acclaimed folk-band-in-a-whiskey-bottle, Session Americana. She will make her One Longfellow solo debut on April 1st, joined by her father, Andy Buckland on bass.
