The Portland Jazz Orchestra - Generations CD Release

Maine has had its’ share of outstanding jazz musicians. Several had found their way on to some of the greatest jazz bands including Maynard Ferguson, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw and Woody Herman.  Many became outstanding music educators carrying the torch for jazz and educating hundreds of young jazz musicians. One thing that many of these jazz musicians have in common is the love for passing on their knowledge and experience of the jazz idiom.

The Portland Jazz Orchestra is comprised of many jazz educators who continue to perform and write with the passion that will continue to keep Maine’s jazz scene alive and well for the foreseeable future. This project pays tribute to living jazz legends Ralph Norris, Gerry Wright, Tony Boffa, Rick Gordon and Terry White, by having them record with and write for the PJO.

Come join us for our Generations CD release party!
