April Open Mic Night hosted by Melvin Gradiz 🌱
April 1 @ 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM EDT

Free Admission! Doors open at 6:30PM
Join us for an evening of live music, connection, and community!
Our monthly Open Mic at One Longfellow Square is a space for sharing songs, discovering new voices, and spending time in a supportive creative community. This year, the series will be hosted by a rotating lineup of our 2026 Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship (LEAF) Fellows, each bringing their own presence and perspective to the room. Whether you’re performing or just listening, you’re invited to show up and be part of the night.
How It Works:
- Doors open at 6:30PM
- In-person sign-ups: 6:30PM – 7:00PM – Drop your name in the lottery; we’ll draw 10 performers (or 12 if time permits.)
- Showtime: 7:00PM – 9:30/10:00PM – The night kicks off with a short set from our featured LEAF host before performances begin. Each artist gets two songs or 10 minutes—whichever comes first.
- Extra Slots? If time allows, we’ll pull more names at 9PM to keep the music going.
Performer Notes:
- This open mic is geared toward singer-songwriters to keep transitions between sets short and smooth.
- Bands may have a chance to apply for a featured artist slot in the future… stay tuned!
- Stick around, support your fellow artists, and grab a drink at the bar!
About Your Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship Host:
Melvin Gradiz was born in Miami, Florida, and has been drawn to music for as long as he can remember. In recent years, he’s fallen in love with songwriting and releasing music independently. He recently formed the Melvin Gradiz Band with drummer Gary Lowell and bassist Randy Runnels and is excited to see the music that emerges from there.

🌱 More About LEAF (Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship):
As part of the Longfellow Emerging Artist Fellowship (LEAF), each of our 2026 Fellows will host one of One Longfellow Square’s monthly Open Mic nights. LEAF is a yearlong program that supports Maine-based artists through paid performance opportunities, creative development, and deeper connection with their community. Hosting an open mic gives Fellows a chance to shape a night they care about – welcoming artists into the room, inviting a featured performer, and spending time connecting with an audience in a relaxed, low-pressure setting. These nights create a chance for the community to check in with our LEAF Fellows throughout the year – to see how their work is evolving, spend time together in the room, and support both the artists onstage and the program growing around them.
