Bobby Rush with special guest The Blues Prophets

February 5, 2026 @ 7:00 PM

Doors open an hour before showtime.

At 91 years old, three-time GRAMMY® winner and Blues Hall of Famer Bobby Rush is proving age is just a number. The King of the Chitlin’ Circuit is experiencing one of the most remarkable chapters of his seven-decade career, with credits in the hit Ryan Coogler film Sinners (and its #1 Billboard soundtrack), a new album with Kenny Wayne Shepherd titled Young Fashioned Ways, and upcoming performances on the Grand Ole Opry and Austin City Limits.

Born Emmett Ellis Jr. in rural Louisiana, Rush built his first guitar out of broom wire and nails before making his way to Chicago in the 1950s, where he worked alongside legends like Muddy Waters, Howlin’ Wolf, and Buddy Guy. Over the decades he’s recorded for Chess, ABC, and Philadelphia International, written his autobiography I Ain’t Studdin’ You: My American Blues Story, and appeared in Dolemite Is My Name with Eddie Murphy.

Based in Jackson, Mississippi, Rush continues to tour internationally and record new music that blends funk, soul, and down-home blues. With 16 Blues Music Awards, induction into multiple halls of fame, and his signature showmanship still on full display, Bobby Rush remains one of the most vital and unstoppable voices in American music.

The Blues Prophets:

The Blues Prophets began as The New England Blues Prophets rehearsing in the basement of a house in Fairfield, Maine in 1976. Live music was everywhere in those years. Still, to the bands surprise, patrons embraced a band that played the blues and nothing else.

The Blues Prophets introduced many local patrons to the music. Doug Wainoris, guitar/vocals. DW Gill, harmonica/vocals. Jeffrey Davison, drums/vocals. Jamie Isaacson, piano. Jack Tukey, bass guitar. The band traveled to the blues bars of Chicago, played many stages in New Orleans, Washington, D.C., Boston, and throughout Maine/New England, honing their craft and becoming an institution. During their travels the boys met and jammed with living legends of the day such as James Cotton, Otis Rush, Muddy Waters, Professor Longhair, Jimmy Johnson and Bonnie Raitt.
