Brett Dennen has built a career around exploring the full spectrum of human emotion through thoughtful, melodic songwriting. His eighth studio album, If It Takes Forever, reflects that approach with warmth and honesty, blending Americana, folk-rock, blues, and roots-inspired sounds. Written in the wake of his father’s passing in 2023, the album became a way for Dennen to process grief, reflect on life, and consider who he wants to be moving forward. He spent months gathering ideas, voice memos, and melodies before quickly shaping them into finished songs.
Recorded in just five days in Los Angeles with his longtime band and producer Jon Solo, the album carries both immediacy and emotional depth. Songs like “In the Garden,” “Wood Canoe,” and “Chipping Away” explore themes of love, resilience, and personal growth, while collaborative recording gave the project a strong sense of unity. Since his 2004 debut, Dennen has earned a loyal following through extensive touring, chart success, and TV placements. With If It Takes Forever, he continues to find meaning in turning life’s challenges into music that connects and comforts.
