An evening of music from the best of Maine’s jazz scene, filled with tuneful jazz compositions from modern masters and top Maine writers. All ticket and CD sales from the evening will go to benefit One Longfellow Square
Ursa Major Deluxe is a jazz party, gathering eight improvising musicians from all across Portland’s musical scene. Portland Jazz Orchestra veterans and OLS regulars Chris Oberholtzer (trombone), Craig Skeffington (trumpet and flugelhorn), Brad Ciechomski (drums) and birthday-boy Sam Sherry (guitar and bass) are joined by vocalist and songwriter Mehuman, saxophonist Andrew Bedard and bassist Robben Harris of The Future Mailmen and pianist Myles Kelley from Midnight Breakfast.
Tom Porter and Friends has brought melodic modern jazz to southern Maine audiences for 20 years. Featuring Mr. Porter on piano and melodica, Frank Mauceri on saxophones and tárogató, Michael Boucher on drums and Sam Sherry on bass and guitar, the Brunswick-based ensemble is joined for this concert by vocalist and songwriter Mehuman and bassist Robben Harris.
