Jeffrey Martin:
On a small corner lot in southeast Portland, Oregon, Jeffrey Martin recorded his quietly potent new album, Thank God We Left The Garden, in a tiny, self-built backyard shack. Initially intended as demos, the live, intimate recordings—captured with just two microphones—became the album itself, raw and honest. Martin’s powerful contralto and restrained guitar work create a warm, real sound, elevated by subtle touches from Portland guitarist Jon Neufeld, who also mixed, mastered, and co-produced the record.
Martin’s fourth full-length release, out on Fluff and Gravy Records (November 2023), reflects a soulful reaction to modern chaos—an exploration of questions, humility, and the full spectrum of human experience. Whether singing about inner landscapes or the redemption of others, his songs carry a timeless kindness and lyrical depth. Thank God We Left The Garden is a reverent celebration of life’s messiness, failure, and beauty, inviting listeners to pause, reflect, and embrace the asking.
Bob Sumner is a singer-songwriter with a knack for weaving heartfelt stories into his music, blending the timeless sounds of folk, Americana, and alt-country. Known for his rich, emotive voice and introspective songwriting, Sumner’s work captures the essence of life’s quiet moments—love, loss, and the spaces in between. Drawing inspiration from artists like Townes Van Zandt and Neil Young, he crafts songs that feel both intimate and universal, resonating with a raw authenticity.
Whether performing solo or with a full band, Bob Sumner’s music invites listeners to pause and connect, offering a sound that’s at once nostalgic and refreshingly new. His latest release showcases his ability to balance sparse, haunting melodies with vivid, lyrical storytelling, cementing his place as a compelling voice in contemporary roots music.
