Matt Lorenz, the creative force behind The Suitcase Junket, transforms scrap and salvage into instruments and plays them all himself, crafting a one-man spectacle that feels both grand and intimate. From his home in rural Massachusetts, Lorenz has built a catalog of “doom-folk” songs—stories and reflections on a planet under stress—delivered with grit, invention, and wry humor.
His latest album, The End is New (produced by Steve Berlin of Los Lobos), expands his vision with cinematic arrangements and themes ranging from environmental collapse to human resilience. A self-reliant songwriter, performer, and visual artist, Lorenz tours extensively, continuing to captivate audiences with his mix of raw creativity, vivid storytelling, and unorthodox showmanship.
