Thompson the Fox is a Tokyo based contemporary ragtime project founded in 2016. Members are Rie Koyama on xylophone, Takumi Kodera on banjo, Tomohito Yoshijima on drums and Akihide Teshima on bass. Each member comes from different musical backgrounds, Rie from classical music, Tomohito from jazz and Takumi & Akihide from bluegrass. The result is a unique interpretation of ragtime music with influence from different genres.
Their latest album “The Fox in Tiger’s Clothing” is made up of two parts, with volume 1, “Fox”, a collection of original compositions, and volume 2, “Tiger”, a collection of cover tunes.
The band has been touring around Japan through the years and has a growing presence in Tokyo’s acoustic music scene. Don’t miss their first ever appearance in the United States!
