Väsen is a Swedish folk duo made up of Olov Johansson on nyckelharpa and Mikael Marin on viola, two master musicians with a long and celebrated history of playing together. Deeply rooted in the traditional music of Uppland, Sweden, their sound is shaped by centuries-old fiddle tunes, inventive compositions, and a musical conversation that feels both timeless and contemporary. With backgrounds in classical music and a shared passion for groove and nuance, Olov and Mikael create richly textured performances that are equal parts soulful, playful, and technically dazzling.
